About Kanoukan T&T

Authentic Koryu School of Trinidad and Tobago

T&T Budokai is excited to announce the launch of the very first authorised authentic Kanoukan Koryu Jujutsu and Kenjutsu schools in the Caribbean, in addition to Koryu Iaijutsu. They will fall under the banner of Kanoukan Trinidad & Tobago.

Kanoukan is a Japanese koryu bujutsu organisation with its headquarters in the Hiroshima prefecture. Kobudo and koryu refer to old Japanese battlefield martial arts from the time of the samurai, before the meiji restoration in 1867.

The founder and chief instructor, Kunio Morimoto sensei is a well-known figure in Japanese budo. He is a director of the Nihon Kobudo Shinkokai and a full member of the Nihon Kobudo Kyokai, Japan's two oldest and most prestigious governing bodies for ancient martial arts.

Kanoukan Trinidad lead by John Ramirez Sensei has been authorised in person at Kanoukan in Japan to teach the following styles:

澁川一流柔術 Shibukawa Ichi Ryu Jujutsu

無雙神傳英信流抜刀兵法 Muso Shinden Eishin Ryu Iai Heiho
